shall

know the temperature of brine-like products before loading so as to

avoid raising the temperature in adjacent tanks (especially tanks containing diesel fuel) and to prevent

deterioration of sealing materials in loading valves.

Careful attention

shall

be given to the density factor and the effects of temperature variation.

The risk of blow out during transfer of materials

shall

be taken seriously. Hoses

shall

be handled and tested

properly.

When pumping has finished, both the receiver and provider

shall

set their lines to allow the hose to be

drained back into the vessel's tank.

If the installation has a vacuum breaker fitted to the line, this

shall

be used to aid draining. In suitable

conditions, the crane

When working at an offshore location, before undertaking any cargo operation pre-job safety planning

shall

be performed.

Verify the operational status of the vessels control systems, obtain an accurate assessment of weather

conditions, and ensure that all means of communications are functional and efficient.

Whenever possible, the vessel

shall

be positioned to work in an acceptable position in relation to the

installation and the swell to minimise vessel motion.

For quick snatch operations, the
