For dry bulk cargo loading the applicable checklists

shall

be properly completed.

All hose connections

shall

be appropriately colour coded. Caution

shall

be exercised with regard to colour

coding as it has been known to vary in different geographic locations and between installations.

Self sealing quick release couplings

shall

be used for all liquid products except water.

In port, a

provided with means of communication to both the bridge and the quay,

shall

monitor the hoses from the quayside connection to the deck connection. The

Wat

c

hman

shall

pay special

attention to:

x

Any leakage on hoses;

x

That hoses have enough slack and that no sharp edges can damage the hoses;

x

That hoses are adequately secured; this is particularly important for the vent hose that

shall

usually

be weighted;

x

That all moorings are maintained so that no strain is imposed on the hoses by vessel movement,

x

When the hose is connected and lines are set, the provider shall be directed to start pumping at a

slow rate;

x

For dry bulk transfers purge air shall be utilised prior to bulk transfer to clear lines and to prove

connections;

x

If the cargo is confirmed as entering the correct tanks, no leaks are observed, and a good vent has

been obtained (dry bulk), the provider shall be advised to increase pumping up to the full delivery

rate.

Prior to commencement dry bulk tanks

shall

be confirmed:

x

No residue remains from a previous cargo unless loading on top has been agreed in advance;

Tanks are not pressurized;

x

Internal tank surfaces are dry;

x

Tank baffles or similar equipment required for discharging cargo are in good condition;

x

Seals on tank accesses are in good condition;

x

A proper vent line has been connected;

x

The correct tank(s) is/are selected for the product;

x

The type and quantity of product to be discharged and order of discharge;

x

The Specific Gravity (SG) of the product must be provided and updated in the system;

x

Estimated pumping rate for each product;

x

Length of warning/estimation of time required to stop;

x

Whether stop

shall

be initiated from the vessel, quay side or installation;

x

Emergency Stop procedure established.

x

To avoid any injury or damage, before a dry bulk transfer between rig and vessel, ask the rig to

ensure that hose sent to vessel is OPEN and with NO CAP.This is the only way to ensure that no

air flow is present in the hose sent on board.

x

All piping systems shall be carefully checked by Engineer in engine room and on deck before

starting transfer
