In order to facilitate your Job Safety analysis and pre-task planning, BOS developed the

Master Safety

Document

or

Document unique de prévention

(in French), listing as many tasks risk assessments as

possible.

The MSD/DUP Company review

shall

be done on a yearly basis for continous improvement, as well as G-

JSAs. When a S-JSA is created or updated, the S-JSA is to be submitted to the DPA, QHSES Manager and

Operations Manager who will review it, check for consistency and request for a MSD/DUP update if needed

and verify if there is a need for the creation of a G-JSA.

The MSD/DUP is archived in Binder 100,

tab1.Master Safety Document

.

As a minimum, it

shall

be available on a printed format on Bridge, Mess room and Engine Control Room.

In order to facilitate pre-task planning, a copy of Binder 100 will also be available in Engine Control Room.

Tools have been adapted to Engine Control Room in order to only keep the ones needed by engine crew.

The responsibility of good application of pre-task planning is delegated to Chief Engineer.

G-JSAs are developed by competent personnel in the Company. These may include

(proposal of G-JSA), members of Management (proposal of G-JSA), HSE personnel or

other experienced operational staff (proposal of G-JSA).

G-JSA to add to BOS SMS Manual will be reviewed at least once a year during the

Master Safety Document

review.

They identify the steps required to complete the job and the identified hazards, controls in place and the

residual risk. G-JSAs provide best practice guidance and provide available, written records to be re-used

each time the related task is undertaken.

G-JSAs

shall not

be used “as is” without review before they are possibly amended to make them adapted to

the job. There are always unforeseen circumstances which necessitate the G-JSA to be completed before

performing the job. Such circumstances are, but not limited to, the weather conditions, ship movements,

experience levels of personnel carrying out the job, etc. These circumstances

shall

be amended and logged

in the

TBT logbook

. If the amendments are vessel specific and valid everytime the job will be done, then a

vessel specific S-JSA

should

be created (refer to S-JSA § 4.3).

Once the job is complete the TBT

shall

be reviewed by the person responsible for supervising the job.

Please take note that the G-JSA form has the same format as the S-JSA, the only difference between the

two forms is the fact that the G-JSA is approved by Company and the S-JSA

should

be only used for task not

covered by G-JSA, or if the vessel specifities make the G-JSA not applicable without major updates.

TBT logbook is provided for several location: Bridge, Engine Control Room and Deck.

It has to be ordered via Task Assistant (refer to

BOS-INS-03.1204 – TBT Logbook

).
