Refer to

ship’s PMS

for maintenance of these equipment.

Cables are not exposed to excessive chafing as long as the fairlead is working properly. However, it’s good

use to change the cable contact point every week when possible.

When the ship is holding on its cables, make regular checks of proper functioning of the fairleads (Ex: Rust

development could jam the roller against the body or rotation of the fairlead around her horizontal axis).

Concerning the cables condition, same instructions about maintenance

shall

be applied as for the anchor

handling cables, unless an agreement with the client sets it in another way about replacement period.

Regular greasing through nipples

shall

be done while moving the rotating parts.

Fail-Safe break

shall

be adjusted according to PMS instructions (or manufacturer’s ones) as a consequence

of the normal wear of the winch. This

shall

also be done when the lining is replaced.

Electric connections, general greasing, brake’s lining, coupling gear, high tension alarm, hydraulic oil

shall

be

checked and maintained as per PMS or manufacturer’s instructions.

Tension meter

be checked and recalibrated according to

PMS
