The DP Online Consequence Analysis function performs analysis to determine the vessel’s ability to

maintain its position and heading after predefined worst-case failure single equipment failure.

x

This function satisfies the requirements of IMO Equipment Class 2 and Equipment Class 3.

x

The analysis checks whether the thrusters remaining in operation after worst case single failure are

able to generate the same resultant thruster force and moment as required before the failure, and

whether the remaining generators are able to produce a sufficient amount of power. A warning

message is issued if a failure would result in lack of thrust or power, and subsequently drift-off.

x

These failures will be the loss of one complete switchboard, one Engine Room (for DP3), or a group

of thrusters that can be affected by a single equipment failure.

x

Consequence analysis are performed cyclically, every minute, whenever the following criteria are

satisfied:

x

The vessel is in AUTO Position Mode.

x

The position set point status is Present Position.

x

The heading set point status is Present Heading.

x

DP class 2 or DP class 3 is selected.

x

By default, the DP Online Consequence Analysis function is switched off.
