With good standards of personal and industrial hygiene marine fuel oils, properly used for their intended

purpose,

should

not present any significant health hazards. However prolonged exposure and inhalation of

fuel oils

should

be avoided. Direct skin contact with fuel oils as this can produce dermatitis and skin cancer.

x

Unnecessary or prolonged contact with fuel oils

should

therefore be avoided;

x

Contact with fuel oils which have been contaminated by mixing with lubricating oils, chemicals waste

or other products

should

be avoided;

x

For all fuel and oils a typical MSDS sheet

should

be kept onboard.
