How isMersen doing in the LEDmarket?
Year after year, salesof our products continue to increase
around the world, particularly in the United States and
Asia, where we have an extensive presence alongside
the leaders in high-performance LEDs. Our SiC-coated
graphite wafer carriers for the metal organic chemical
vapor deposition (MOCVD) process are in demand due to
their excellent and even heat conductivity and resistance
in a corrosive, very-high-temperature environment.
Is this one of the keys to themarket?
Absolutely. MOCVD process represents 20 to 25%of an
LED’stotalproductioncost.Itisaprocess-criticalstepthat
manufacturers are constantly trying tooptimize – and the
properties of the graphite are one particular area where
gains are possible, with solutions that are more efficient,
but which demand extreme purity.
In particular,
you have to be able to quickly manufacture
new designs tailored to customers’ lines and
production cycles.
